Into the Future
Stretching Out
The Glasgow Harbour Development runs along the north side of the River Clyde. It comprises up to 3500 luxury homes and flats, a commercial sector and some retail outlets. The Developers hope it will be a good example of the new mixing with the old. We are one of four churches in a grouping along the Development area who are looking at ways of making good contacts with the new residents. This involves imaginative and creative ways of being the church for them in the 21st century.
Other Developments planned for the area include a new Superstore and housing for 300 families and 1300 student flats. Each stage of the current life of Partick and its proposed futurre presents us with the opportunities to fulfil our Mission Statement.
Staying at Home
The original halls are still standing, and are still used for some of the more boisterous activities of the younger age groups, but being over 100 years old, they are not surprisingly are reaching the end of their useful life. The next phase being planned is the replacement of the present halls with a simpler building which will be suitable as a sports hall amongst other things. This will be the third stage of our Site redevelopment, after the Sanctuary, then the present halls.
These are ambitious plans, aimed at providing a facility designed to meet the needs of the church, its friends and the local community. Donations to help pay for them will be gratefully received, with our target estimated at approximately (£300,000 (USD550,000). If you wish to help, please send a cheque, payable to Partick South Church of Scotland and identify that your gift is towards the Sports Hall and then send it to The Treasurer, 259 Dumbarton Road, Glasgow G11 6AB.

All of the money for the Sanctuary and New Halls, totalling £550.000 was raised by the congregation through regular giving, deeds of covenant, fundraising events like concerts and also through the generous support from a range of external organisations Trusts and friends of the church. All loans for development work had been paid off one year after the New Halls opened. Continued support is vital if the plans are to come to fruition.
In these early years of this new century, we trust our God, as we did when the new church had to be built. Many people are praying for this and we are excited as we seek the way forward to serve our Community and to witness to our Lord Jesus Christ as in the midst of life we are 'making Jesus known'
We welcome you to join us and be part of the Christian Community in Partick
